IRISSCON 2019 | Brian Honan, Dan Raywood, Emma Heffernan, Jenny Radcliffe, Thom Langford

Episode Summary

Cyber threats are everywhere — every country around the world is dealing with cybercrime and trying to keep their societies cyber safe with the onslaught of technological advancements in connected devices, apps, and cloud-enabled services. While the problems — and the solutions to them — may sound the same at the surface level, the devil is in the details. This is true when it comes to different regions around the world — it remains especially true when representatives present the view of the problems and solutions in society that aren’t purely InfoSec focused.

Episode Notes

Cyber threats are everywhere — every country around the world is dealing with cybercrime and trying to keep their societies cyber safe with the onslaught of technological advancements in connected devices, apps, and cloud-enabled services. While the problems — and the solutions to them — may sound the same at the surface level, the devil is in the details. This is true when it comes to different regions around the world — it remains especially true when representatives present the view of the problems and solutions in society that aren’t purely InfoSec focused.

That is precisely what IRISSCON is all about. Organized by Ireland's first CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), a non-profit organization, IRISSCON brings together “experts on various aspects of cybercrime and cybersecurity to share their thoughts and experiences with attendees.” This year didn’t disappoint with several top-notch speakers taking to the stage to share their stories; their experiences.

Sean Martin was there to join the conversation, took some pictures (have a look below), and captured a recap podcast.

The group provides a quick recap on the key takeaways from the conference, some thoughts on the state of cybersecurity in the region, and other things on their mind (evidently rugby is big thing… 😬).

We have a few laughs as well.

Go ahead. Have a listen. You know you want to. You have to hear Thom’s Darth Vader voice, if nothing else.

Guest(s)
